A firewall will prevent you from getting them in the first place, while an anti-virus will help you deal with a virus that is already on your system.

Adware is another concern. While adware and spyware might not create problems for your network, your data security is at risk because they will send information about your internet preferences and activity to advertisers, making you more vulnerable to targeted advertising. This annoyance can become a real issue if your business accounts start getting deluged with spam.

If you’re worried about real-life security issues, like people logging onto your account or profile, there are a few simple tips to keep in mind. Don’t stay permanently logged in to your accounts, and make sure that your password is not easy to guess. Don’t use the same passwords for your accounts. Integrating numbers and letters in your password will also make it more difficult to casually access; one common format used by many businesses is a six letter word followed by a two digit number.
